Sanitizing is a new normal especially now in this covid situation, however, sanitizing frequently with alcohol based sanitizers takes away skin’s natural oils and this can lead to the following skin conditions:
SKIN IRRITATIONS: Disinfecting ingredients in hand sanitizer like ethly or isopropyl contains strong alcohol smell and this if frequently used can cause skin irritation which can become more worse with sensitive skin.
INCREASED ECZEMA RISK: One of the most common causes of eczema is increased contact with irritants and allergens , so using hand sanitizer that contains alcohol increase the risk of hand eczema.
PHOTOSENSITIVE: Frequent use of alcohol sanitizers can make your skin more sensitive to Uv rays because alcohol makes the skin layer thin , easier for Uv rays to penetrate and cause sun burn. Skin disorder:Using alcohol based sanitizers frequently removes skin good bacteria and this increased the risk of skin disorders .
RECOMMENDATION: Washing our hands with good hygiene products help not only to kill germs but to avoid above mentioned skin conditions , however if you are in a situation where you cannot wash your hands, use a sanitizer together with a good hand moisturizer containing natural oils .
